I’m linking up with Meghan over at Clean Eats, Fast Feets for a way to feel like I accomplished something this past week.
I know it’s the holidays, but, um, I didn’t really do anything special for it. My dad is still in the hospital in New Orleans, and my parents didn’t want me and Baby Brother coming down until they figured out what’s wrong. They still haven’t figured it out, and he’s had like 100 tests done. Still waiting for some of those results. They did find that his carotid is 75% blocked, but that’s not causing his extreme headache (like 12 on a scale 1-10, in his words). Still hoping and praying.
So, besides like a thousand phone calls/texts getting updates on him and passing them along, I…
Baked six loaves of sourdough bread in 3 days. Bread…because Christmas should be tasty. And everyone likes food.
Cleaned the computer room (although you can’t really tell currently), and cleaned out two closets. I even decided to get get rid of/donate about twelve pairs of shoes (This sounds like a lot until you realize I probably have 80 pairs. Yes, I have a problem. I’m aware.).
Got a new phone, and in the process lost some of the pics I planned to use for this post and most of my music, sigh….
Cooked Alfredo from scratch, along with Blue Cheese and Chive Drop Biscuits from Meghan herself. Yum!
Bought a comfy new couch.
Also purchased Atlanta Aquarium tickets and tickets for the Coca Cola Museum when The Diva and I visit in a couple of weeks.
Got all my textbooks for my first set of classes, and two for one of my second session classes (Apparently, American Women Writers requires a lot of reading. Fortunately for me, I’ve already read at least 3 of the 8 books on the list, and don’t mind reading them again. Little Women and The Poisonwood Bible? Don’t mind if I do.)
Still waiting to see if I develop pneumonia because it was 75 degrees on Saturday, and today when I woke up, we had 4 inches of snow. Ah, the joys of Texas weather.
Helped someone pack at the last minute for a three-week-long trip to Africa. Really? You’ve known about this trip for three months and you waited until the night before you left to pack?
I’m so sorry to hear about your father. I hope you get some answers soon which involve him being ok. I’m sending happy and healthy vibes his way.
Even with all that, I’d say you did a lot. Getting a new couch, a new phone, baking bread (six loaves no less!), donating shoes… Also if it makes you feel any better, I have a bit of a shoe fetish too. In fact, I need to go through my closet and purge quite a few pairs. Clothes also. 🙂
Thanks for linking up.
Thank you. He’s actually getting out today, although they still don’t know what’s going on,
Shoes…I just can’t seem to help myself.
Oh and I’m thrilled you made the biscuits. I love those things and have a couple bags stockpiled in my freezer for rainy days.
They’re fantastic!
P.S. Next week I’m doing a New Year’s Resolution post for my Week in Review submission. You are welcome to join me or keep doing your traditional WIR thang. Just wanted to let you know in case you were interested.
Thank you for the head’s up! I haven’t made a resolution in a few years. Maybe it’s time to try that again.
