Linking up with Meghan over at Clean Eats, Fast Feets for this one.
I skipped a week, because last week was pretty…brutal. My boyfriend’s mother died very unexpectedly, and that’s not been an easy situation to get through.
So, not sleeping much. No energy to work out. And definitely not eating healthy.
Let’s see, besides work, school, and worry, there hasn’t been a whole lot going on.
In December, I won tickets to see New Kids on the Block at our company Christmas party, and that concert was on Tuesday night.
Talk about a surreal experience. I LOVED new Kids on the Block when I was younger, and they were my first concert at about age 12. Completely surreal. They did a pretty cool tribute to the Manchester victims, and they also spent a lot of time in the crowd, taking selfies with fans and interacting, which was nice. Too bad I didn’t successfully get a good picture of Donnie in his romper…smh.
Turns out I remember far too many of those songs from so long ago.
Thursday was my birthday, the big 4-0! I’m pretty happy to be alive and thriving, and it turns out that 40 is much easier than 30 was for me.
To celebrate, I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales…twice. (I love this franchise!) My verdict: pretty good, although it’s impossible to live up to the first one. I may have cried a few tears at the ending…both times.
On my actual birthday, I had lunch with my BFF, and then we hit up Ulta for some totally unnecessary shopping.
Hung out with the boyfriend for a bit, before he had to head back to work.
On Saturday, before the movie, The Saint and I indulged in Indian food.
Then we hit up Half Price Books–sale!–and Andy’s for frozen custard. She sent me home with some yummy cupcakes.
Sunday, I was supposed to have lunch with Baby Brother and my friend, Boo, then go to the movie again. As it turns out, Baby Brother had also invited The Diva and her hubby, and The Saint for lunch, which was a total surprise, but so great! I love my tribe. We also had a lovely banana pudding cake after the Cajun food, so now I’m stuffed and high on sugar.
That’s about it for me.
Happy Belated Birthday. I’m glad you got to spend some quality time with your tribe.
I’m sorry to hear about your boyfriends mother. As you well know, death is never easy, especially when it’s unexpected.
Thank you.
