my low-key half-marathon “training plan”…a.k.a. “laziness keeps making me start over”

Seriously, y’all. What happened to all my motivation of a year ago? I ran four times a week, I ate healthy, I was totally focused on being healthier.

Fast forward to now, and it’s all I can do to finish like 5 things on my to-do list, much less everything. Ha. As if. I’ve been working a lot, it’s been super hot (welcome to August in Texas), and I’ve just been tired.

So I haven’t worked out in like two weeks.

The Route 66 Half Marathon is in 15 weeks. Cue panic attack…

Instead of continuing to ignore my previous training plan, I decided to start over, with 3 runs a week of my own devising, aiming at my “goal” half marathon time of sub 2:30 (5.2 mph pace).

This week’s workout schedule:

Tuesday: run 1.0 mile at 4.0mph

Thursday: run 1.0 mile at 4.5mph

Saturday:  long walk (probably 7 miles or so), with the BFF, who’s training for another Grand Canyon hike in 6 weeks (eek).

Sunday:  run 1.0 miles at 4.5mph

Starting with an easy distance and an easy pace will motivate me, right? I sure hope so.

But I did my run for today, plus some light strength training, so it’s off to a good start.

Let’s see how the rest of the week goes.
