week in review: all about those hills

Linking up with Meghan at Clean Eats, Fast Feets for the Week in Review.

Week-In-Review-Button-Final

Last week was a teensy bit crazy. Probably a precursor of what’s in store in April.

Let’s see, last week, I:

-worked Monday and Friday at my clinic.

-spent all day Wednesday and Thursday at a two-day mandatory overnight work conference. Which was, at times, interesting, but there was A LOT of negativity in that room from the other attendees. Sigh

-I wrote zero book reviews, since I stopped reading like five books in March. (That’s a lot for me to stop reading, but if the writing isn’t holding my interest…there are too many other books in the sea to waste my time with a bad book. #lifelesson).

-I did finish reading Paris by the Book and Hurricane Season, and will be reviewing them this week, as well as talking about everything I read in March (fourteen books, I think).

-my Ionic died at mile seven, but the BFF and I got in 9 miles of hills on Saturday morning. The moon was still up when we started:

And let me tell you about this hill, which shall henceforth be known as The Hill of Death (Yes, I am occasionally dramatic. Why do you ask?)

the hill of death

Normally, we come down this hill, continue on past where I’m taking the picture from, and go a couple of miles that way, before taking a right turn on the road that’s barely visible about a third of the way up.

Saturday, since we were trying to stretch a 7-mile loop into 9 miles, we went back up the hill to the mailbox you can barely see, then turned back around and came down to turn on the road. Can I tell you how bad this hill sucks? And, for some reason, my method of tackling hills is to speed up. I don’t know why. Maybe because if I slow down, I’ll probably stop?

But…I also got in three treadmill workouts this week, making this the fourth straight week I’ve hit all my workouts! (Let me tell you, the looming Wild Canyon Ultra is keeping my butt in motion!)

And i’m down about 12 pounds in the last month or so, so there’s that.

On Easter Sunday, The Saint and I went to the 9 a.m. service, which was amazing, then saw God’s Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness. Lots of food for thought in that movie.

That’s it for me this week.
