my low-key half-marathon “training plan”…a.k.a. “laziness keeps making me start over”

Seriously, y’all. What happened to all my motivation of a year ago? I ran four times a week, I ate healthy, I was totally focused on being healthier. Fast forward to now, and it’s all I can do to finish like 5 things on my to-do list, much less everything. Ha. As if. I’ve been… Continue reading my low-key half-marathon “training plan”…a.k.a. “laziness keeps making me start over”

weekly workouts #4

I need an accountability partner. In my eating choices. My workouts. Life. That’s kind of the point of these posts: I’m basically physically lazy, and if I don’t keep myself accountable, I’ll totally slack off and slop around the apartment. Which is kind of what happened since last fall. I was doing great:  running regularly,… Continue reading weekly workouts #4

weekly workouts #3

This week has been pretty “meh” as far as workouts go. In other words, I’ve been feeling pretty lazy. Sigh… Monday:  worked 14 hours or so for a total of 13,282 steps (6.29 miles). Tuesday:  Holiday. Obviously. Wednesday:  worked 12.5 hours for a total of 11,743 steps (5.56 miles). Thursday:  strength training + ran 2… Continue reading weekly workouts #3

weekly workouts #2

This week, I’m pleased to say that I hit 3 out of 4 of my planned cardio workouts, and all four of my strength training sessions! I wasn’t doing anything crazy—pretty low-key—but it feels good to have achieved some consistency this week. Here’s what the week looked like: Monday: Worked 14 hours, 12,583 steps (5.96… Continue reading weekly workouts #2

when a mile feels like a marathon

Six months ago, I ran six miles like it wasn’t a big deal. (Not like super fast or anything, but I ran it without stopping or passing out.) Then I was injured for 3 months. Then I started trying to run again, and life and laziness kept getting in the way. So, here I am… Continue reading when a mile feels like a marathon

weekend workouts #12

The joint workout did not happen yesterday, so I hit the gym by myself for the Week 1, Day 2 of the 10k training plan. Yes, I did keep walking a few extra seconds so the calories-burned display would read 500. I can’t lie; being that close kicked my OCD into gear. Instead of the 4… Continue reading weekend workouts #12

gym mystery

I actually didn’t procrastinate around the house this morning for too long. (Busy. I was busy. Promise.) Instead, I did several things that needed doing, and one project that accidentally happened. (Went in the kitchen to put something away, and ended up clearing off most of the stuff on top of the cabinet and reorganizing… Continue reading gym mystery

week in review

I’m pleased to say that this week was a bit more than last week. I did get to go to the funeral for my friend (working in health care, there are certain legal staff to patient ratios that must be maintained, so it required some juggling, but it happened. Thanks to my awesome co-workers!) It… Continue reading week in review
